Speakers & Chairs

GUIDELINES FOR SPEAKERS & CHAIRS

Designation of chairs

Unless otherwise indicatede.g. sessions organised with partner associations or Sciences Po’s summer workshops - the chair of a parallel session is the final speaker programmed of the session.

Please feel free to change the order of presentation of papers should the final speaker have time constraints!

Preparing your talk

  • Each conference room and amphitheatre is equipped with a standard audio-visual package setup that will allow you, if you want, to accompany your presentation with slides.
  • Please be sure to prepare a .pdf file for your presentation so as to avoid eventual compatibility issues.
  • Arrive at your session meeting room at least 5 minutes before the session begins to upload your pdf presentation. Take time to familiarise yourself with the set-up at the lectern.
  • All presentations are in English

Timing

The chair is the time master :

  • Each parallel session lasts 90 minutes. If the session includes 3 papers, we recommend 30 minutes be allotted to each paper (presentation + discussion); if the session includes 2 papers, it is up to you if you want to exceed the 30 minute rule of thumb!
  • You might receive specific instructions from your session chair as to how your presentation is scheduled during your session, e.g. Sciences Po summer workshops.

A student has been affected to each floor of conference rooms and to each amphitheatre so as to ensure that things run smoothly – they will lend you a hand if you encounter any technical issues.
